Darmstadt, October 2016 – Adobe Systems and PROSTEP AG have expanded their longstanding cooperation in the development and global marketing of PDF Generator 3-D, which is based on Adobe's LiveCycle technology. PROSTEP can now also use the successor product in the LiveCycle suite, AEM Forms, for developing its 3D PDF-based solutions. The 3D PDF solutions from the Darmstadt-based PLM specialists are used in the manufacturing industry to make digital product models available enterprise-wide and replace drawing-based business processes.
PROSTEP has been developing and marketing 3D PDF-based solutions for the manufacturing industry since 2010. These solutions allow 3D information from engineering departments to be easily combined with other product data and used for creating offers, for drawing-free manufacturing, for 3D assembly planning and for providing service documentation. The PDF Generator 3D server solution can be used to fully automate generation of the 3D PDF documents. It is based on Adobe's LiveCycle technology, for which PROSTEP has exclusive rights when it comes to developing 3D PDF-based solutions for the manufacturing industry.
Now that Adobe has decided that it will in future develop and market the LiveCycle product suite under the name AEM Forms, the two companies have expanded their existing cooperation to include the new product line. AEM stands for "Adobe Experience Manager" and is a comprehensive content management solution for creating websites, apps and forms that also simplifies the management of marketing content and assets.
Expansion of the cooperation agreement gives PROSTEP access to AEM Forms and the associated functions for generating intelligent PDF documents. As a result, the company can further develop PDF Generator 3D on the basis of the latest Adobe technology. This ensures support for the latest versions of operating systems, databases and application servers. PROSTEP will however continue to offer PDF Generator 3D on the basis of the old platform during a transitional period, thus allowing existing customers in particular to migrate at a time of their choice.
"We are pleased that Adobe has chosen to continue their longstanding cooperation with us and that we will in future be permitted to use the functionality of AEM Forms to enable us to offer our customers an even wider spectrum of solutions for digitizing their product engineering processes," says Dr. Bernd Pätzold, CEO of PROSTEP AG, about the cooperation agreement. "Our 3D PDF technology is an important lever for implementing the model-based enterprise."
