Darmstadt, May 2016 – Data continuity is a key prerequisite for lean processes. That is why the new version 6.0 of PROSTEP's server solution PDF Generator 3D offers an even wider range of possibilities for the Model Based Enterprise (MBE), i.e. the use of a 3D master model as a medium for the paperless and drawingless communication of engineering data to downstream processes such as sample and prototype construction, manufacturing and assembly. Support is now also provided for the conversion of the latest CAD formats CATIA V5-6 R2015, Inventor 2016, NX 10.0.4, Solid Edge ST8, Solid Works 2016 and JT version 10.0 DM 8.1.3.3.
Key innovations in PROSTEP's PDF Generator 3D 6.0 include an option for changing the color of PMI (product and manufacturing information) annotations so that they stand out better against the model background. Transfer of the PMI when converting models from PTC Creo, SolidWorks, Catia V5, NX and JT into 3D PDF has also been improved and accelerated. The ID of topological elements is now retained both when importing models from CATIA V5 and from Parasolid. This enhancement allows unchanged 3D models to be recognized in processes that include the detection of changes. "MBE assumes that all information relevant to manufacturing and assembly can be represented in the 3D model correctly and in its entirety. Optimization of the 3D master data in PDF Generator 3D takes this into account," stresses TImo Trautmann, Product Owner PDF Generator 3D at PROSTEP AG.
